Mediterranean diet
Modern diet is increasingly popular since the 1990s, inspired by traditional cuisine from the Mediterranean region countries. The first official scientific recognition of the beneficial effects of this diet was made public by Dr. Walter Willett, based on studies conducted at Harvard University in the mid 90s. Based on the eating habits of the inhabitants of Crete and southern Italy, the diet rich in vegetables, fresh fruit, milk fat content (especially cheese and yogurt), fish and poultry in moderation, few eggs (up 4/saptamana) come in small amount / moderate. Fats in the diet is 25-35% of total calories from saturated fat which is less than 8%.
